Aquamarine is part of the large Beryl family (from the ancient Greek “beryllos”: green-blue gem), and the name of this gem does nothing but bring to mind its strong connection with the sea - Aquamarine means, in fact, “Sea water” and derives from the Latin words “aqua” (water) and “marinus” (belonging to the sea).
